as a developmental scientist with more than 15 years of experience conducting research, libbie believes in using science to improve children’s lives. her work highlights the importance of educational settings in reducing inequities and supporting children from underserved groups. libbie is passionate about working with partners and organizations to understand how best to support students, families, educators, and communities through evidence-based strategic planning and program evaluation.
libbie’s graduate and postdoctoral research focused on lab-based studies designed to understand the causes and consequences of stereotyping and prejudice in educational settings for children. this work illuminated the importance of educational settings in supporting children from underserved groups. as a postdoctoral scholar at the university of hawaii, she also worked on evaluation projects that focused on supporting native hawaiian students in educational settings from preschool through college.
